How to Paint a Deck

Materials:

Deck cleaner
Pressure washer or garden hose with a strong nozzle
Sandpaper (80-grit)
Paintbrush or roller
Deck paint
Painter’s tape

Steps:

Preparation: Remove all furniture and items from the deck.
Clean the deck with a deck cleaner and rinse thoroughly using a pressure washer or hose.
Allow the deck to dry completely.
Sand any rough spots or peeling paint with 80-grit sandpaper.
Tape off areas you don’t want to paint with painter’s tape.
Pour the paint into a paint tray.
Apply a thin, even coat of paint using a paintbrush or roller, following the wood grain.
